Health and Wellness Model for Faith Based Communities

An initiative that seeks to provide access to healthcare in the Northwest neighborhood. It is an initiative that is guided by a steering committee that includes NCCI, Florida Atlantic University College of Nursing, Palm Beach Atlantic School of Nursing, T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society, Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church Health Ministry, and Catholic Charities Health and Wellness Interfaith.

Through the collaborative efforts of Palm Healthcare Foundation, Quantum Foundation, local churches and non-profits, a needs assessment has been completed for Phase 1 that included 377 respondents that supports the need for a community health clinic.  The Faith Community Nurse offers a variety of services ranging from health screenings, education, referrals, and follow-up visits or calls to ensure individuals receive the services needed.

Lawn Maintenance Program

Supports the revitalization of the Northwest neighborhood by maintaining vacant lots owned by the City of West Palm Beach and or Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) within the Northwest and Pleasant City neighborhoods. Workers also collaborate with the City’s Sanitation department to coordinate unscheduled trash pickups.

Public Safety

NCCI contracts with a private security company to maintain patrols on foot and car in the Northwest neighborhood.  These are uniformed and highly trained individuals that assist in ensuring the district is safe.  The security guards are ambassadors and provides an additional set of eyes and ears for law enforcement.
